Did you know that the date gardens just outside of Palm Springs produce 80%+ of the nation’s supply? Or that the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway uses the world’s largest rotating tramcars, and offers one of the steepest ascents in the world? And I’ll bet you didn’t know that the first commercial card casino in the United States was established on an Indian Reservation near Palm Springs.

Why am I telling you all this? Certainly to get you excited about visiting Palm Springs this September, but also to remind you how much fun trivia games can be! If you have a passion for knowledge, and competing with your colleagues, then you need to sign up for the ISHI Trivia Event on Monday, September 23rd after the Welcome Reception.
According to Healthline, competing in trivia challenges gives you the same dopamine rush as gambling or playing video games, but without the negatives. Plus, it allows you to network and connect with people in a new and exciting way and to meet those whom you otherwise might not have spoken with and is great exercise for your brain.
This year, we’ll be doing things a little differently. The Geeks Who Drink will still be running the quiz event, and we’ll still be including a light buffet and non-alcoholic drinks in the registration fee, but this year we’re adding a theme – the 80’s! That’s right, dust off your scrunchies and acid wash jeans and prepare to talk about the “good ol’ days” (or maybe not) and party like it’s 1989.
Like last year, we’ll also be offering prizes to the top teams, so come ready to compete. Registration for the Trivia Event is open now and can be added to your current registration. The cost is $30 and space is limited to the first 100 people who sign up. To add the trivia event to your registration, click the link in your registration confirmation or email Sharon Zelanka.
