Tim Kalafut

Tim Kalafut is an Associate Professor of Forensic Science at  Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX.  After over twenty years as a practicing forensic DNA analyst, most with the US Army Crime Lab, he made a mid-life career change into the world of academia. His new role allows him to have freedom to take on new projects, and hopefully shorten the learning curve for the next generation of forensic scientists. Tim’s research interests are very applied – he wants to help improve the tools available to DNA examiners that work to answer questions about evidence given the issues that matter to the participants at court.
