Dr. Nicole Novroski is the Associate Director of the Center for Human Identification and holds an Associate Professor position within the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences at UNTHSC. Dr. Novroski recently made the move to the CHI from a tenured professorship at the University of Toronto, where her research specializes in using massively parallel sequencing coupled with novel approaches and methodologies to improve forensic human identity testing for public laboratories. Her current focus is the exploration of previously uncharacterized genetic markers for improved DNA mixture deconvolution and in the optimization of genetic workflows for forensic genetic genealogy. Dr. Novroski is the Editor-in-Chief of Forensic Genomics and was recently awarded the inaugural 2024 40 Under 40 Award from the Association of Junior Leagues International for her outstanding contributions to forensic genetics and to her community.
