Meet the ISHI Advisory Committee: Julie Sikorsky

We are excited to spotlight Julie Conover Sikorsky, a distinguished member of the ISHI Advisory Committee whose extensive experience in forensic science has significantly shaped the field. Julie’s career is marked by her deep commitment to advancing forensic methodologies and her active involvement in various forensic communities.

 

Julie began her career in 2002 as a Senior Forensic Scientist at the Forensic Biology Unit of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, where she was later promoted to manage a team of over twenty professionals. Her leadership and expertise have not only enhanced her team’s capabilities but also contributed to the broader forensic community.

 

In addition to managing her unit, Julie holds several prestigious roles including Chair of the American Board of Criminalistics (ABC) Credentials Committee, and memberships in the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), the International Association of Forensic Genetics (ISFG), and the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD). Her involvement extends to her local Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), where she was recognized as member of the year in 2019.

 

Julie is certified in molecular biology by the ABC, has earned her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and is a qualified ISO Assessor. She has provided expert witness testimony over 100 times, authored numerous publications, and frequently presents at meetings, conferences, and trainings. Julie serves as a peer-reviewer for forensic journals and is a member of the Advisory Board for Keiser University.

 

Her academic foundation includes a bachelor of science degree in molecular biology from the University of California at San Diego, and two master’s degrees from Marshall University in forensic science and biomedical sciences.

Outside of her professional life, Julie enjoys running, yoga, exploring culinary experiences, traveling, and indulging in her passion for true crime through books and podcasts.
