Staying Strong: NYC OCME Reflects on 9/11

It is a day most of us will never forget. We will always remember where we were, what we were doing, or who we were with on September 11, 2001.

To most New Yorkers, it was a typical start to the day.  The sights and sounds were common and typical; honking horns, people filling the sidewalks on their way to work.  It was a beautiful day in the city. The sky was as clear and blue as could be.

Now, 20 years later, the team at the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) is still dedicated to identifying remains and bringing them home to loved ones. This special video presentation will reflect on the enduring strength of that commitment from the earliest days and through the weeks, months and years that followed. Our speakers who witnessed the events at the World Trade Center and their aftermath with share how the evolution of DNA analysis technology has helped to identify remains that previously were impossible to identify.

In the end, what stands out is their continued dedication to the work they do, the City of New York and the families of 9/11 victims.
