Important Update- ISHI 31 Will Be a Virtual Event

Dear ISHI family,

The health and safety of our ISHI attendees, exhibitors, partners, and staff is our top priority.  Although we would love to gather together this fall in San Antonio, the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic makes it impossible for us to guarantee a safe and satisfactory experience for attendees.  We have determined that restrictions on travel, occupancy limits at the venue and masking requirements would negatively impact an in-person ISHI 31.

We recognize that hearing updates on forensic science is still of vital interest to the community. We are also aware that the pandemic is adversely affecting budgets for forensic labs. In order to support the educational needs of the forensic community, the ISHI virtual experience will be offered at a nominal price to make the symposium accessible to the largest audience possible.

What will be included in the virtual event?

The general session will feature 8+ hours of presentations by experts in the field. Confirmed speakers as of today include CeCe Moore and Paul Fronczak, Walther Parson and Thomas Parsons. Talks will cover advances in forensic science, use of genetic genealogy, interesting cases, policy updates affecting forensic laboratories and more.  If you would like to present a talk during the general session oral abstracts can be submitted for consideration until June 14.

Access to a virtual exhibit hall will be included with the general session.  Visit virtually with 3 vendors to receive your free commemorative ISHI 31 t-shirt!  You can also connect with fellow ISHI participants to network and discuss shared interests.

General Session- Cost $100

Workshops:

A full day workshop, “Implementation of Rapid DNA” will be offered for $100.  Multiple half day workshops on various topics will be offered for $50.  The GCLAITH meeting (Spanish presentations) will be offered free of charge this year.  If you have previously registered for the meeting or workshops you will receive a communication providing options for transferring your registration to the virtual event or cancelling your registration.

You can find more details on the virtual ISHI on our FAQ page.  We appreciate your understanding and support during this challenging time! While we’re disappointed that we won’t be together in San Antonio this fall, we can’t wait to connect with you online!
